Entry tags:cinemarr, family, pics or it didn't happen, pretty stuff, tv series eat my life

My brother's graduation was really nice \o/ he was the first person called to the stage by the teachers even, because he did best in some biology competition he never even told us about :') It is clear: my baby brother wins at life.

Also I had never been to his school before and HOLY SHIT, IT IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL ART DECO SCHOOL BUILDING I HAVE EVER SEEN. I am so jealous. From what I've heard I'm glad I didn't actually go there because apparently it's not particularly full of likeable people, but my own school's building was a hideous 70s (50s apparently, I stand corrected!) monstrosity and just, holy crap, I am so jealous! It's not like I'll ever have reason to be in that building again, so I decided to bust out my camera and take some pictures. I'm glad I did because I just trolled google and flickr to find more pictures of the building and hey guess what: there are like three of them, and they suck.

So yes, look at my baby brother's old school because it is gorge:

idk I like the colour scheme, shut up

THERE WAS STAINED GLASS EVERYWHERE AND BEAUTIFUL TILE PATTERNS AND OH GOD I AM SO JEALOUS

SO. JEALOUS.

This one is a little faily but at least it shows the white statue and the lamps and the patterns on the columns more clearly, so I am including it anyway.

And finally, as stolen from another site by me:

LOOKS GOOD Y/Y

Okay, thus ends my picspam of envy.

Also yesterday evening I watched part of a BRILLIANT BBC documentary series about the very beginning of film history, called The Last Machine and presented by Terry Gilliam (hell yes!) It was AMAZING - so, so thorough and interesting and really fun to watch! My dad taped it when it aired in the 90s, but accidentally recorded something else over nearly half of the episodes. D: I've been googling for hours because I really want to see the rest of it, but I can't find a single episode available for download ANYWHERE, nor has the series ever been officially released. THIS IS RLY UPSETTING >:( Damn you, BBC. I don't know if anyone with more Google chops than myself can find it, but if you do I will be grateful to you for fucking ever. I am desperate D:

That series sounds really interesting! What a pity it's not on DVD. =[ I don't know how people find things to download so I can't help you there, either.

But, boy, that school is beautiful! Mine was also hideous 70s buildings. Haha.

It really looks like it's just... not on the internet, ANYWHERE. Which I find really confusing, considering that it's something by Terry Gilliam! I'm going to see if I can't get someone to transfer all that we have of it on VHS to a DVD, so I can rip it and upload it myself. It deserves to be seen!

Isn't it just? I'm honestly really jealous that my school wasn't like that :') imagine walking around there every day! Damn our ugly schools, haha.

Your brother is just like my friend. She was accepted to study abroad in Japan and didn't tell anybody. Just like my friend, your brother wins at life!

OMGWTF WHY DOES YOUR BROTHER GO TO SUCH A GORGEOUS SCHOOL?! I am envious beyond words. Stained glass? May I steal them?!

Aw, that sounds like a great documentary. You can try contacting the British Film Institute and ask if there is any way you can get a copy of it :)

I never understand things like that - I'd be the first to shout something like that from the rooftops! My brother didn't actually know that he was going to be called up to the stage for doing so well in the competition though, so that was a surprise to him as well!

Man, if those windows were stealable rest assured I would already have them here with me :') I am SO JEALOUS that he got to walk around in that building every day! It's a shame that the actual school and the atmosphere and all weren't so great - if only my old school had been like that, it'd have been PERFECT.

Ooh, that's an idea! I'll definitely have to try that! I'm also going to ask a friend of my dad's if he can transfer all the VHS material from the series that we have left onto a DVD, so I can at least share that with the internets! It really deserves to be seen, it's a brilliant series.

Man, I know! The owl statue is brilliant enough on its own but then the ENTIRE BUILDING AROUND IT IS SO GORGEOUS AS WELL and I'm still jealous, haha.

Thank you! I agree that the BBC is stupid for not releasing this, haha.

Oooh it's so pretty! With the tiles and statues and columns it reminds me of a middle eastern palace or something. And I love that owl statue!

I can see what you mean about the middle eastern palace! And I agree, it's all so pretty. I wish I had a house like that, or at least a statue like that!
